Omnichannel apparel, shoes and accessories retailer J.Crew announced today the launch of “Re-imagined by J.Crew,” a wide ranging initiative aimed at enhancing the sustainability of the company’s products and supply chain.

New commitments launched under the new initiative include 2025 goals to reach 100% sustainably sourced key fibres, including cotton, produce more than 90% of J.Crew cashmere and chino collections in Fair Trade Certified facilities, and to sustainably source 100% of plastic and paper used for packaging, including eliminating virgin plastic from packaging.

J.Crew has also pledged to be 100% carbon neutral in operations by 2030, and has committed to setting a science-based target with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) by the end of 2021.

In addition to SBTi, the company is collaborating with various groups on its sustainability initiatives, including participating in the CanopyStyle initiative, a collaboration of the fashion industry to help conserve the world’s remaining Ancient and Endangered Forests and forward innovative next generation solutions. The company also said that it is working with supply chain partners to decrease its greenhouse gas impact throughout its global supply chain.

J.Crew Group CEO, Libby Wadle said:

“We know there are many areas of sustainability that are in our power to impact positively, including tackling issues deeper in our supply chain and supporting the industry’s transition to circularity. By activating our employees, partnering with our stakeholders and listening to our customers, we are developing strategies to address the issues that will have the biggest impact on our products, supply chain and the apparel industry.”
