GSK Consumer Healthcare (GSKCH) announced today that it will launch fully recyclable toothpaste tubes across its oral health brands, including Sensodyne, parodontax and Aquafresh. The company expects to produce over 1 billion of the recyclable toothpaste tubes per year by 2025.

The company’s new initiative follow’s GSK’s recent launch of a series of sustainability commitments, aimed at achieving net zero climate impact and net positive impact on nature by 2030, with goals encompassing sustainably sourced materials, renewable energy use, and water stewardship.
For its new commitment, GSKCH has partnered with global packaging suppliers Albea and EPL Global. The Albea partnership will see GSKCH switch its toothpaste tubes from aluminium barrier laminates to the Greenleaf recyclable plastic laminate, while EPL Global will enable production of tubes in Platina laminate. Tubes produced with the new laminates will be recyclable and compatible with existing recycling processes.
