Industrial software company AVEVA announced today that it has joined the Business Ambition for 1.5°C campaign, with commitments to set emissions reduction targets, across Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions, aligned with limiting global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius.

The campaign, led by the Science Based Targets Initiative with support of UN agencies, businesses, sustainability-focused organizations and industry leaders, calling on companies to commit to set ambitious science-based emissions reduction targets in line with a 1.5°C future.

According to Peter Herweck, AVEVA CEO, initiatives planned in order to pursue its climate goals will include a combination of energy reduction measures across its offices, procuring renewable energy and engaging with its suppliers and customers on climate action, with minimal reliance on carbon removals.

Herweck,said:

“As outlined by the global scientific community in last week’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change report, the window we have to take action on climate is closing fast. We have joined Business Ambition for 1.5°C because we are deeply committed to being part of the solution to the climate crisis, both through the industrial software that we make to support our customers on their digital journey and in the daily actions that we take to run our own business.”

In signing on to the Business Ambition for 1.5°C commitment, the company also stated that is joining UNFCCC Race to Zero, adding to its participation in initiatives including BSR, the UN Global Compact, and the Renewable Energy Buyers Alliance (REBA).
