Global consumer brands company Clorox announced new climate-focused sustainability targets, including a pledge to cut carbon emissions across its operations by 50% and to reduce Scope 3 emissions generated across its value chain by 25% by 2030.
According to the company, the new goals are aligned with the pathway to achieving net zero emissions across Scopes 1, 2, and 3 by 2050, and the commitments have been approved by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). To achieve its new targets, the company outlined several initiatives, including maintaining the use of 100% renewable electricity for U.S and Canada Operations. To address Scope 3 emissions, which constitutes the majority of the company’s carbon footprint, Clorox plans to incorporate climate considerations into purchased goods and services, reduce virgin material, and increase the use of post-consumer recycled content in packaging, and innovate to reduce the carbon footprint of products.
