Buildings efficiency, controls, and automation company Johnson Controls announced today the acquisition of Asset Plus, a provider of energy reduction and zero carbon generation measures focused on the UK public sector.
Founded in 2016, Asset Plus delivers sustainability savings for UK National Health Service (NHS) organizations, authorities, and educational establishments. The company provides strategic support and project management for energy efficiency measures and retrofitting across different environments, including low-carbon heating through Air Source Heat Pumps, low-energy LED lighting and solar power integration.
Paul Burnett, Co-Founder and Managing Director of Asset Plus, said:
“We are excited to be joining the Johnson Controls family. Johnson Controls is the global leader for smart, healthy and sustainable buildings and a perfect fit for Asset Plus, providing a unique opportunity to pivot our energy performance model to other market sectors and expand our offering, transitioning the business into the next phase of growth.”
The acquisition follows the launch last year by Johnson Controls of a series of ESGEnvironmental, social, and governance (ESG) criteria are a set of standards for a company’s operations that socially conscious investors use to screen potential investments. More commitments, including a pledge to help customers reduce their own emissions. Last year, the company also launched its OpenBlue smart buildings technology and services, and in July 2021, unveiled the sustainable buildings-focused OpenBlue Net Zero Buildings as a Service.
Johnson Controls stated that the acquisition widens its OpenBlue and digital solutions portfolio to Asset Plus customers and that it provides greater opportunities to support UK clients across multiple sectors in achieving sustainability goals.
David Lloyd, Head of Connected Buildings at Johnson Controls UK&I, said:
“We are very excited to announce that we have completed the acquisition of Asset Plus, one of the UK’s leading independent experts in the design and project management for implementation of decarbonisation and energy efficiency offerings. Its services will further enable Johnson Controls to deliver a turnkey net zero offering to all our UK clients, across all sectors, supporting us to deliver on our promise to create a safe, comfortable and, most importantly, sustainable world.”
