Malaysian integrated oil and gas company Petronas announced today the launch of Gentari, a new clean energy solutions company to deliver a suite of renewable energy, hydrogen and green mobility solutions and capture energy transition opportunities.

Datuk Tengku Muhammad Taufik, Chairman of Gentari,  said:   

“Gentari will offer cleaner energy solutions to meet the energy needs and lower carbon aspirations of Malaysia and its customers at home and abroad. With a dedicated team focusing on the supply, distribution, and retail of cleaner energy, we aim to capture opportunities in the low carbon energy space by providing affordable and accessible solutions and systems by enabling scale of production and infrastructure availability.”

Petronas outlined some of the 2030 sustainability ambitions of the new company, including building 30-40GW of solar energy capacity, with added opportunities in wind and battery storage, supplying up to 1.2 million tons of hydrogen annually, and capturing 10% EV ecosystem market share across key markets in Asia Pacific.

The new company kicks off with clean energy assets and projects including over 1 GWp of solar capacity in India and Malaysia, a pipeline of clean hydrogen projects under development in Malaysia and other markets, as well as over 220 electric vehicles under the Vehicle-as-a-Service model.
