Real estate and investment management firm JLL announced today the acquisition of Berlin-based building sustainability technology provider Envio Systems.
Founded in 2013, Envio integrates data from building systems and provides predictive analytics and building automation to deliver more sustainable building operations. Its hardware and software enable access to and analysis of data from sensors and applications across systems and functions such as HVAC, lighting, and energy management to facilitate predictive decision-making around utilities and operations, health and comfort, and sustainability.
Neil Murray, CEO of Work Dynamics, JLL, said:
“Combining Envio’s best-in-class systems with JLL’s expertise, technology and global platform – along with our shared values around innovation and sustainability – will enable us to solve our clients’ problems better, faster, and more cost-effectively than anyone else in the industry.”
Buildings and real estate are significant contributors to the global climate challenge, accounting for approximately 40% of carbon emissions, according to the International Energy Agency and UN Environment Programme. They are also among the hardest to sources of emissions to replace, given their long-term nature.
Yishai Lerner, Co-CEO, JLL Technologies, said:
“Our purpose at JLL is to shape the future of real estate for a better world, and with this acquisition of Envio we are meaningfully accelerating our ability to deliver on that promise for our clients.”
According to JLL, Envio’s technology will serve as the core infrastructure of a platform for delivering intelligent and sustainable building solutions that disrupt current building operation models.
Reza Alaghehband, Envio founder and CEO, said:
“We are thrilled to join JLL, which has a strong track record of leveraging and integrating disruptive technology to drive shared value for clients and communities. Our talent, hardware and software, together with JLL’s global scale and integrated capabilities, will accelerate the delivery of smarter, more sustainable workplaces and buildings to our clients globally.”
