London-based asset manager GIB Asset Management (GIB AM) announced today the appointment of Victoria Barron as its new Chief Sustainability Officer.

In her new role, Barron will have responsibility for driving the firm’s sustainability agenda, sustainability frameworks and governance, in addition to leading projects to enhance corporate sustainability while supporting the growing development and adoption of sustainability at the sector and regional levels, with a particular focus on sustainability initiatives in UK and the Middle East.

Barron joins GIB AM after serving as Head of Sustainable Investment at Brightwell, which manages the BT Pension Scheme (BTPS), one of the largest private sector pension schemes in the UK. Prior to joining Brightwell, she held ESG investing-focused positions at firms including Newton Investment Management, Federated Hermes, and CCLA. She currently co-chairs the ASCOR Project, an independent tool aimed at helping investors to evaluate countries’ emissions pathways, climate policies and climate-related funding needs.
