Industrial products, solutions and technologies company Honeywell announced the launch of INNCOM Direct, a new tool aimed at enabling mid-market hotels to reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions by automatically adjusting heating and cooling of vacant rooms.
According to Honeywell, the new tool uses a proprietary detection system to identify empty spaces, and automatically adjusts temperature without impacting consumer comfort, and can change temperature in a room if a guest leaves for an extended time, and automatically re-adjusts when the guest returns. The tool also allows unrented rooms to be set to a specific setting that can be heated or cooled when a guest checks in.
Honeywell said that the new solution brings its INNCOM technology, previously only accessible to high-end hotel operators, to mid-market or limited service hotels, with features including quick setup, portfolio analytics accessible through mobile devices or a dashboard, and the ability to use the tool on a single property or a portfolio of hotels.
Billal Hammoud, President and Chief Executive Officer of Honeywell Building Automation, said:
“As hotels become more carbon-conscious, they are taking meaningful steps to show they care about their impact on the environment. Until now, mid-market hotels faced fewer options when it came to better managing their HVAC systems with automation. Now, INNCOM Direct is leveling the playing field with an affordable, cloud-based energy management system.”
