Meta announced that it has signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with renewable energy and battery storage company MN8 Energy for the production of 80MW of energy from a new solar project in Pennsylvania.

Meta, the owner of Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, has set a target to reach net-zero emissions across its value chain by 2030. According to a recent report by BloombergNEF, the company was largest corporate clean energy offtaker in 2025, signing more than 10 GW of PPAs. The report also found that Meta and its tech giant peers Amazon, Google and Microsoft accounted for nearly half of all corporate clean energy deals last year.

The companies said that the new solar PPA will support Meta’s efforts to add new generation to the grid and to continue matching their operations with 100% clean and renewable energy.

Urvi Parekh, Director of Global Energy at Meta, said:

“We are thrilled to partner with MN8 Energy to bring new renewable energy to Pennsylvania and help support our operations with 100% clean energy.”

Under the agreement, marking the first joint project between the two companies , Meta will purchase 100% of the electricity generated by MN8’s Walker Solar plant in Juniata County, Pennsylvania, for its data center operations. Walker Solar is currently under development, and is targeted to begin operations by the end of 2026.

Moe Hanifi, SVP, MN8 Energy said:

“As demand for data centers and artificial intelligence accelerates, access to reliable, domestic energy has never been more critical. We’re proud to partner with Meta on a long-term basis and to build the domestic energy infrastructure needed to power the next generation of digital innovation.”

Founded in 2017, New-York based MN8 specializes in decarbonization projects, energy storage, and grid-scale power solutions across many U.S. states. The company was initially founded within Goldman Sachs Asset Management as Goldman Sachs Renewable Power and became an independent company in 2022 and rebranded as MN8 Energy.
