• Bridges Fund Management adds a specialist climate technology investment team from HSBC Asset Management, strengthening its private equity platform focused on energy and industrial transition.
  • The newly formed Bridges Climate Transition Partners will continue managing the existing Climate Growth Partners fund, which has already completed 11 investments.
  • HSBC Asset Management will remain a limited partner and plans to anchor a future successor fund, reinforcing long term capital support for climate technology deployment.

Bridges Fund Management is expanding its climate investment capabilities with the addition of a specialist climate technology team from HSBC Asset Management, deepening its focus on financing companies that accelerate the global energy and industrial transition.

The team, led by Christophe Defert and Mike D’Aurizio, will operate as Bridges Climate Transition Partners within the Bridges private equity platform. Both investors have worked together for more than a decade, building a track record backing high growth companies focused on climate technologies and transition infrastructure.

The move brings a dedicated climate technology strategy under the Bridges umbrella at a time when institutional investors are increasingly seeking scalable solutions capable of decarbonizing industry, strengthening energy systems, and improving climate resilience.

Existing Fund And Future Strategy

The team will continue to manage the Climate Growth Partners fund, an investment vehicle launched while at HSBC Asset Management that has already deployed capital across 11 portfolio companies.

HSBC Asset Management will remain closely tied to the strategy. The firm will continue as a limited partner in the existing fund and intends to act as an anchor investor for a successor vehicle that Bridges plans to establish and manage in the future.

The structure allows Bridges to expand its climate investment platform while maintaining continuity for existing investors and portfolio companies.

Within Bridges, the climate technology strategy will target commercially proven companies across Europe and North America. Investment themes include energy transition technologies, sustainable manufacturing systems, and climate resilience solutions designed to address the operational risks associated with a warming world.

The team will also draw on Bridges’ internal sustainability, impact, and value creation specialists to support portfolio companies as they scale.

Climate Technologies Move To Center Of Private Equity

The expansion reflects growing investor appetite for climate technologies capable of delivering both financial returns and measurable environmental impact. Advances in artificial intelligence, material science, and energy systems are reshaping industrial production, mobility, and infrastructure, opening new investment opportunities for private capital.

Michele Giddens, CEO and Co-Founder of Bridges Fund Management, said the integration aligns closely with the firm’s long term strategy. “We’re thrilled to welcome Christophe, Mike and their outstanding team into the Bridges family. Their expertise and passion for solutions that are accelerating the transition to a more sustainable economy align perfectly with our mission. We firmly believe that investing in innovative climate technologies is one of the most powerful ways to achieve positive impact at scale, and we’re delighted to be spinning in this proven, expert team to spearhead our effort.”

We back exceptional founders whose unique and scalable businesses will be critical to the transition to a more sustainable and resilient economy. Joining Bridges is a natural next step: it allows us to keep building on the strong foundations and networks we’ve developed over the last decade, with the support of HSBC. Bridges’ entrepreneurial spirit, impact expertise and specialist support will complement this perfectly. Together, we believe we can scale this platform to deliver great outcomes for our investors, communities, and the planet.”

Continued Strategic Role For HSBC

HSBC Asset Management will maintain a strategic role through its continued capital commitments and its relationship with Bridges on future funds.

Joanna Munro, CEO Alternatives at HSBC Asset Management, said the partnership ensures continuity while allowing the strategy to expand. “Christophe, Mike and team have built a strong platform with a differentiated approach and a solid foundation for growth. Our ongoing relationship with Bridges will support the scaling of this strategy, while continuing to serve the interests of existing investors.”

For institutional investors navigating the transition economy, the development highlights a broader shift underway in private markets. Climate technology is rapidly moving from niche venture exposure into the core of growth equity and private equity strategies.

As industrial decarbonization accelerates and governments tighten climate policies, platforms capable of identifying and scaling commercially viable climate solutions are becoming increasingly central to long term infrastructure and transition investment strategies.
