Asset manager DWS’ exchange-traded funds business Xtrackers announced the launch of the Xtrackers Electrification Technologies & Smart Grid UCITS ETF, a new fund aimed at offering investors with exposure to opportunities generated by the growing trend toward electrification and related technologies, and targeting companies in power generation and storage technologies, smart grid solutions and intelligent technology.
According to DWS, the new fund is being launched as electrification emerges as one of the key structural trends of the coming decades, with global electricity demand growing at historically rapid rates, driven by factors including electromobility, industrial transformation, and the growing demand for computing power and digital infrastructure.
The new ETF will invest in companies that provide technologies for the generation, storage, and transmission of electricity. The fund will track the Nasdaq Global Electrification Technologies and Smart Grid Index, which is designed to track the performance of companies across themes including Smart Grid, Smart Energy Transmission, Smart Grid Components, Smart Metering, Stationary Energy Storage, Clean Energy and Nuclear Power.
Michael Mohr, Global Head of Xtrackers Products at DWS, said:
“Electrification is a long-term global trend. A wide range of new technologies is addressing the steadily increasing demand for electricity. With the new ETF, we offer investors broadly diversified exposure to the companies driving this trend.”
The ETF is currently listed on the Deutsche Börse and on the London Stock Exchange.
