Madrid-based renewable energy company Zelestra announced that it has signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Tesla agreeing to purchase the entire output from a new 140 MW solar project in Texas.
The new solar project, the Lumen solar farm, will be located in Anderson County, in northeast, Texas, within the ERCOT market. Zelestra said that it expects to begin construction on the project by 2027, with the facility scheduled to be fully operational by 2029.
The agreement marks the latest collaboration between the companies, following a 57 MW PPA in 2024 covering the output of the Brazatortas I, II and IV solar plants in Spain’s Castilla-La Mancha region.
Phil North, Zelestra US CEO, said:
“We are excited to expand our relationship with Tesla to the US. We aim to deliver the project and bring the new solar plant online as quickly as possible to support Tesla’s growing energy needs in Texas.”
