Climate management and accounting platform (CMAP) provider Persefoni announced the appointment of former SEC Commissioner and Acting Chair Allison Herren Lee to its Sustainability Advisory Board (SAB).

Launched in 2020, Persefoni’s SaaS platform enables companies and institutional investors to measure, analyze, plan, forecast, and report on their carbon footprint.

In her new role, Herren Lee will advise Persefoni’s board and executive team on climate disclosure standards and likely regulatory shifts, as well as on the integration of sustainability reporting into corporate and investment management.

Kentaro Kawamori, CEO & Co-Founder of Persefoni, said:

“Allison is a global leader in addressing climate risk as financial risk within the public markets; I can think of no one better to advise Persefoni and our clients/partners through upcoming climate disclosure regulation. The insight and relationships she has formed during her time at the SEC will be vital as we continue to guide our clients on their journey to compliance. We are excited to welcome her on board.”

Herren Lee served in a variety of roles at the SEC from 2005 – 2018, before rejoining in 2019 as a Commissioner, and serving as Acting Chair in 2021. While in that role, she initiated a review of the commission’s guidance for public company obligations for disclosures related to climate change risk, prior to the SEC’s release the following year of its proposed climate disclosure rules. Herren Lee also launched an ESG Taskforce in the SEC’s enforcement division, and an ESG risk-related investor education platform.

Herren Lee said:

“I am incredibly fortunate to be joining Persefoni’s Sustainability Advisory Board to advance climate disclosure and promote greater transparency and accountability in this space. Sustainability continues to be a complex topic for many businesses, particularly around regulation, and I admire the work Persefoni is doing. I hope that my skills and experience at the SEC will help further Persefoni’s goal of providing timely solutions to businesses across the globe.”

SAB co-chair Robert Eccles added:

“There is no better time for Allison to join the sustainability advisory board than now. I know that she will provide critical insights and expertise that will add great value to the SAB. We are delighted to welcome her and very much looking forward to working with her.”
