Sustainability platform CO2 AI announced the launch of Product Footprinting, a new AI-powered solution aimed at enabling companies to compute carbon emissions for products and reduce environmental impact.

Paris-based CO2 AI provides solutions aimed at helping large and complex organizations to measure impact and identify levers to reduce impact at scale, leveraging artificial intelligence. According to the company, the new solution comes to address a need for more accurate and rapid product carbon footprinting, citing a study released by CO2 AI and BCG indicating that only 38% of companies receive adequate product-level data from suppliers.

According to CO2 AI, the new solution enriches raw data and allocates emissions across the product development cycle, using generative AI to match the most relevant emission factors to product data rapidly, and measuring emissions with a high level of accuracy through a library of over 110,000 emission factors.

Additional features include the ability to export and share product footprints to meet customer transparency demands, and to visualize emissions hotspots at the ingredients, materials, processes or other levels, and to simulate changes to help decarbonize products.

Charlotte Degot, CEO and Co-Founder, CO2 AI, said:

“We’re proud to enable sustainability leaders to transparently respond to increasing customer requests and create more eco-friendly products.”
