Carbon removal provider Exomad Green and carbon removal marketplace Supercritical announced the signing of a three-year biochar carbon removal (BCR) agreement, under which Supercritical will purchase up to 500,000 tons of BCR credits sourced from Exomad Green’s facilities in Bolivia.

The new agreement expands the collaboration between the two companies, with Supercritical having already facilitated the sale of more than 100,000 tons of Exomad Green credits to date.

Exomad Green converts waste biomass from sustainably sourced forestry residues into biochar, which is delivered to local communities for use in agricultural soil improvement programs. The company currently operates two biochar facilities in Bolivia, with a third facility under construction and expected to come online later this year.

According to Exomad Green, it has produced more than 320,000 tons of durable carbon removal and has expanded production by more than 200% year-over-year, positioning it as one of the largest suppliers globally by delivered volume. The new agreement secures Exomad Green’s remaining 2026 inventory, along with allocations for 2027 and 2028, certified under the Puro.earth biochar methodology.

Diego Justiniano, CEO of Exomad Green said:

“We’ve delivered over 320,000 tonnes, and this agreement puts that operational capacity into the market where buyers need it most — verified, near-term supply. Not a future promise, but tonnes available today.”

Founded in 2021, London-based Supercritical operates a carbon credit marketplace focused on vetted carbon removal solutions, helping companies achieve net-zero goals. The company said it accounts for approximately 35% of corporate carbon removal purchases.

Supercritical said that with this agreement, it has now facilitated nearly two million tons of carbon removal across biochar, mineralization, direct air capture, enhanced rock weathering, and other permanent carbon removal pathways.

Michelle You, CEO of Supercritical said:

“Long-term offtakes and short-term spot purchases are equally important to building the market. This agreement provides immediate access to high-quality, near-term supply from the leading biochar producer in the world.”
