Renewable energy producer DESRI and Meta announced the signing of new power purchase agreements (PPAs),providing the tech giant with 850 MW of clean energy capacity from solar and battery storage projects across the U.S.
Meta, the owner of Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, ranked as the largest corporate clean energy offtaker globally in 2025, according to a recent report by BloombergNEF, contracting 10.24 GW in the year. The company has set targets to reach net-zero emissions across its value chain by 2030, and to continue to match 100% of the electricity used in its data centers and offices with renewable energy.
Hy Martin, Chief Development Officer of DESRI said:
“These projects support Meta’s energy commitments and they will generate significant economic development for local rural economies across the country. Our relationship with large companies like Meta is a cornerstone of DESRI’s long-term strategy of delivering cost-effective, reliable energy projects to power the U.S. economy’s growth.”
The new agreements include 500 MW in Oklahoma, 200 MW in Texas and 150 MW in Mississippi. The new agreements expand Meta’s contracted capacity with DESRI to approximately 2,575 MW of solar and battery storage projects across nine states, the companies said.
Amanda Yang, Head of Clean and Renewable Energy at Meta said:
“DESRI has been a valued partner as we work to bring new energy to grids across the United States. This expanded partnership — now spanning nine states — reflects our commitment to supporting the communities where we operate.”
