Supply chain intelligence platform Epoch announced today that it has raised $4.25 million in a seed funding round, alongside the launch of a new solution aimed at automating compliance for small and mid-sized businesses (SMBs), starting with the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR).

According to Epoch, the funding and new launch come as businesses face increasing regulatory requirements to trace the origins of raw materials. The EUDR, for example, requires companies placing products including cattle, cocoa, coffee, palm oil, rubber, soy and wood on the EU market to demonstrate that they are deforestation-free and legally produced. The regulation will apply to large and medium-sized operators beginning December 30, 2026, and to most micro and small operators from June 30, 2027.

Founded in 2023 by CEO Jinal Surti and CTO William Ouellette, London-based Epoch develops AI-powered supply chain intelligence technology designed to help businesses trace raw materials to their origins and assess environmental and regulatory risks The company uses geospatial AI and automated research to analyze supply chains, reducing reliance on supplier questionnaires.

The company said that its technology identifies supplier facilities, locates plots where raw materials originate and assesses deforestation and legality risks. Its platform enables businesses to use the resulting information to address multiple regulatory requirements, including the EUDR.

According to Epoch, the new self-service solution allows SMBs to begin with existing supplier information and use AI assistants, including ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini, to organize data and assess supply chain risks. The platform can generate Due Diligence Statements with supporting evidence for submission to the EU Information System (TRACES), the company added.

Surti said:

“We’ve built a compliance solution for the AI era. One sweep across a supply chain, using geospatial AI and agentic research, produces evidence that can be packaged for every regulation a company faces, including the ones not written yet. Enterprises get it inside the platforms they already run, and from today on, so does any SMB.”

The $4.25M seed round was led by Burnt Island Ventures and Sand River, and brings the total Epoch has raised to $6.26M. The company said that the new capital will go into product, infrastructure and the commercial team.

Christine Boyle, Partner, Burnt Island Ventures, said:

“Large companies rely on their supply chains to operate their businesses, and they are often operating in the dark as to the local conditions around drought, flood, and forest health. The Epoch platform leverages AI, earth observation data and proprietary models to enable visibility into risk mitigation, and compliance.”
