Deloitte announced the launch of Green Claim Navigator, a new AI-powered solution aimed at enabling companies to detect greenwashing and ensure compliance of green claims made across their websites, reports, packaging, and marketing materials with new regulations.
According to Deloitte, the new solution comes as companies face increasing pressure to monitor their green claims from regulations including the EU’s Directive on Empowering Consumers for the Green Transition (EmpCo) and Switzerland’s updated climate-related claims rules under its Unfair Competition Act, which demand that companies substantiate claims with objective, verifiable evidence.
Key features and capabilities of the solution highlighted by Deloitte include the ability to assess compliance by cross-referencing every sustainability claim against specific regulatory landscapes, recommendations following the assessment with claim rewrites informed by expert consultation and regulatory best practice to strengthen claims, and tracking of evolving regulations and enforcement trends in real time.
In a post announcing the new solution, Lay Boon Tan, Swiss Assurance Leader at Deloitte said:
“With the recent EU Empowering Consumers for the Green Transition Directive, the importance of environmental claims that are clear, credible and supported by evidence is now enshrined by law – A proven and tested technology will go a long way in giving Boards and Executives across Europe the confidence they need against these regulatory demands.”
