Global private capital investment firm The Carlyle Group announced today the launch of Telis Energy, a new renewable energy development platform, with a target project pipeline of more than 10GW in place by 2030.

Based in London, the new platform will develop and partner on high-quality renewable energy projects, with a focus on solar, in the UK, France, Spain, and Germany, with a view to expand to other markets in Europe.

Pooja Goyal, Chief Investment Officer of Carlyle’s Infrastructure Group, said:

Carlyle’s announcement comes as major private markets firms globally are positioning to capitalize on the significant investment opportunities arising from the transition to low carbon energy sources. Private equity firms Apollo and Blackstone have each recently said that they anticipate opportunities to invest $100 billion in energy transition and climate change solutions over the next decade, and each have launched energy transition-focused platforms over the past few months.

Carlyle has been actively investing in the energy transition, including the recent launch of U.S.-focused utility scale sustainable infrastructure platform Copia Power, kicked off with the acquisition of a 6 GW solar and storage development pipeline from energy developer and operator Tenaska. Earlier this year, Carlyle announced the launch of an energy transition-focused investment platform, centralizing the firm’s infrastructure and energy capabilities to capture emerging investment opportunities arising from global decarbonization efforts.

Telis Energy will be led by CEO Adrien Pinsard, who joined Carlyle in April 2022, after serving as interim CEO for Macquarie’s solar energy-focused platform Cero Generation.

Pinsard said:
