CRM software provider Zendesk revealed a series of climate-related milestones, including reaching carbon neutrality across its product supply chain, and on employee travel and commuting-related emissions, as of the end of 2022.

In addition to its climate-related achievements, Zendesk also announced that it has joined the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). SBTi is one of the key organizations focused on aligning corporate environmentalEnvironmental criteria consider how a company performs as a steward of nature. sustainability action with the global goals of addressing and limiting climate change. In 2021, the organization launched its Net Zero Standard, setting stringent criteria which it uses to assess and certify corporate commitments to achieve net zero emissions. SBTi also tightened its criteria for approved climate targets, announcing that it will only accept targets aligned with its 1.5°C warming ambition, as required to avoid the worst impacts of climate change.
Zendesk said that by joining SBTi, it has committed to set additional climate goals in line with the 1.5°C target.
The company outlined a series of climate-focused initiatives it has pursued to date, including purchasing 100% renewable electricity and certificates since 2019, reducing employee travel emissions through a ‘digital-first’ strategy, encouraging of company suppliers to set climate targets and reduce emissions, purchasing high-quality and verified carbon reduction offsets, and investing in a portfolio of nature-based and engineering-focused carbon removal solutions, which sequester greenhouse gasses from the atmosphere.
Trotter added:
“We know there is much more to be done, and we are excited to partner with our customers, suppliers, and employees on this journey towards a net zero society.”
