Pure-play hydrogen mobility company Hyzon Motors announced today an agreement with California-based logistics services provider Total Transportation Services Inc (TTSI) to provide a Class 8 heavy-duty fuel cell electric truck to TTSI for a 30-day trial.
The trial marks TTSI’s first experience with a net zero emissions vehicle capable of 400 miles range. The truck can be placed into TTSI’s existing operations, with the ability to haul up to 82,000 gross combined vehicle weight (GCVW),and it will be able to take advantage of the public heavy-duty hydrogen refueling station in Wilmington, Ca.
Vic LaRosa, President of TTSI, said:
“Deploying the truck in real operations was a key requirement for us. TTSI’s trucks run 18-20 hours each day, hauling heavy loads. Hyzon’s FCEVs provide the quick refueling and high performance necessary to meet these operational needs.”
TTSI stated that with the help of Hyzon’s fuel cell electric vehicles, its sustainability targets, including the goal of operating a 100% zero-emissions fleet could be achieved more quickly.
Additionally, the company stated that transitioning fleets to net zero emissions would have an immense impact on the emission levels at the Long Beach port area, where 13,000 to 14,000 trucks that emit about 2,600 tons of CO2 operate every year.

Through this trial, Hyzon and TTSI will demonstrate how zero-emissions trucking in the US can be achieved in the near-term.”
