CRM solutions provider Salesforce announced several sustainability achievements, including the reaching net zero emissions across its full value chain, and 100% renewable energy for its operations. The company also released its climate action plan, outlining its key priorities to drive towards a 1.5°C future, and announced the launch of Sustainability Cloud 2.0, updating its platform enabling organizations to track and reduce carbon emissions.

The new announcements are the latest in a series of sustainability-focused initiatives by Salesforce. Earlier this year, the company announced that it will introduce climate obligations in its supplier procurement contracts, and the company also released a new platform aiming to help companies to streamline how they track and measure supply chain carbon emissions. Salesforce also recently announced that it will actively advocate for clear and consistent science-based climate policies that facilitate a just and equitable global transition to a 1.5°C future as part of its public policy platform, and has called for mandatory climate reporting by companies.

With the Sustainability Cloud 2.0 release, Salesforce adds integration of Slack, enabling better collaboration with suppliers, following the completion by Salesforce of its $28 billion acquisition of business communications and collaboration platform Slack Technologies earlier this summer. The updated Sustainability Cloud platform also includes a carbon-offset ecosystem, and industry specific climate action plans.
According to Salesforce, its own net zero achievement was accomplished using Sustainability Cloud to identify the most impactful opportunities to lower its carbon footprint.
