Business data and reporting solutions provider Workiva and climate management and accounting platform provider Persefoni announced today a new strategic partnership, aimed at providing customers with transparent, investor-grade carbon disclosures, integrated within their ESG reporting solutions.

Through the new partnership, Workiva and Persefoni users will be able to integrate and transfer data between the companies’ platforms, including activity data, carbon footprint calculations, climate trajectory models, secondary data sets, operational, financial, and supply-chain data. Users will also be able to access to carbon benchmarking and a carbon offsets marketplace. The companies stated that the collaboration will empower users “to pivot away from disparate spreadsheets and manual processes.”

Kentaro Kawamori, CEO of Persefoni, said:

“We’re excited about the value our partnership will create for our joint customers by easing the path to satisfying complex climate-related disclosure requirements. Together, Workiva and Persefoni become the market leader at simplifying complex ESG and Financial filing, both today and into the future.”

Launched in 2020, Persefoni’s SaaS platform enables enterprises and institutional investors to measure, analyze, plan, forecast, and report on their carbon footprint, leveraging AI to provide users with contextual sustainability performance scores for their organization and allowing them to manage their carbon transactions and inventory with the same rigor as their financial ones.

Workiva recently launched its ESG reporting solution on the cloud-based Workiva Platform, its reporting and compliance platform that enables customers to streamline processes, connect data and teams, and ensure consistency.

According to the companies, the partnership establishes the only reporting solution in the market that unifies financial and ESG reporting with deeper granularity around greenhouse gas accounting in accordance with the greenhouse gas protocols (GHGP) to track carbon emissions in Scope 1, indirect emissions in Scope 2, and upstream and downstream emissions in Scope 3.

Julie Iskow, Chief Operating Officer of Workiva, said:

“Workiva continues to develop and deliver innovative capabilities that ensure our end-to-end platform enables our customers to meet evolving ESG disclosure requirements. By partnering with Persefoni, we’re able to deliver investor and board-grade carbon data that can be used to make better decisions for businesses and the environment.”
