Jewelry designer and retailer Pandora announced today the launch of Pandora Brilliance, a collection with lab-created diamonds in the U.S. and Canada, made with 100% renewable energy and recycled silver and gold.

The launch follows the announcement last year by Pandora that it will end the use of mined diamonds, opting instead for those manufactured in labs. The company said that its lab-created diamonds have a carbon footprint 95% lower than their mined counterparts.

According to Pandora, lab-created diamonds have the same optical, chemical, thermal, and physical characteristics as mined diamonds, and are graded by the same standards.

The 33-piece collection includes rings, bangles, necklaces, and earrings each featuring lab-created diamond, and it is also crafted with 100% recycled silver and gold. This brings greenhouse gas emissions of the collection’s entry product, a silver ring, to 2.7 kg CO2, equivalent to the average emissions of a t-shirt.

The company stated that it has committed to craft all its jewellery from recycled silver and gold by 2025.

Last year, Pandora announced commitments to cut GHG emissions in half by 2030 across its operations and value chain and to reach net-zero emissions by 2040, and also introduced reduced-plastic packaging across its stores and online, including carrier bags that will no longer contain any plastic, and jewelry boxes with plastic reduced by more than 75%.
