Prestige beauty company Estée Lauder Companies (ELC) announced today that it has appointed Nancy Mahon as its first Chief Sustainability Officer.

Mahon joined Estée Lauder in 2006 as Vice President of MAC Cosmetics and Executive Director of the MAC AIDS Fund, and has held roles in the company including Senior Vice President for Philanthropy and Social Initiatives, with responsibility for cause-marketing programs for Bobbi Brown, Jo Malone London, and La Mer, in addition to MAC. While at the company, she was also appointed by President Obama as Chairperson of the Presidential Advisory Council on HIV/AIDS, serving in the role from 2011-2016.

Most recently, Mahon has been serving at the company as Senior Vice President, Global Corporate Citizenship and Sustainability, collaborating with leaders across the company to deliver a strategy for ELC’s climate and environmental initiatives, inn areas including energy, emissions, packaging, and ingredient traceability.

In her new role, Mahon will continue to focus on the integration and implementation of the company’s sustainability initiatives, and on ESG reporting, while also continuing to serve as Executive Director of The Estée Lauder Companies’ Charitable Foundation.
