Denmark-based energy and decarbonization infrastructure investor AIP Management announced a $500 million investment in U.S.-based renewable energy, carbon, and battery storage solutions provider Silicon Ranch.

Founded in 2011, Nashville, Tennessee-based Silicon Ranch is one of the largest independent power producers (IPP) in the U.S., with a solar and battery storage system portfolio encompassing 3.6 GW of operating capacity and 3.7 GW in construction or under contract, as well as a near- and mid-term development pipeline of more than 12 GW. Silicon Ranch said that it aims to reach more than 10 GW of operating capacity by the end of 2030.

The company also has the largest wholly owned agrivoltaics portfolio in the U.S. under its Regenerative Energy approach to project design, construction, and land stewardship, which incorporates regenerative ranching and other regenerative land stewardship practices to restore soil health, promote biodiversity, and improve water quality at its sites.

Reagan Farr, President and CEO of Silicon Ranch, said:

“Silicon Ranch is pleased to welcome AIP as our newest strategic partner and eager to add their rich experience in long-term infrastructure investment and deep understanding of our sector to our shareholder base. With the support of AIP and our other shareholders, Silicon Ranch is well-positioned to execute our growth strategy as we partner with our diverse set of customers to deliver necessary energy infrastructure, all while helping American communities become stronger, healthier, and more resilient.”

According to AIP, the new investment comes as electricity demand is set to rise significantly over the next several years, driven by factors including industrial growth, AI and data centres, and manufacturing reshoring. In addition to Silicon Ranch’s capability to participate in serving load growth across the U.S., AIP noted additional upside from the company’s land ownership strategy, providing long-term optionality to re-power and re-contract existing assets.

Kasper Hansen, CEO and Managing Partner of AIP, said:

“This investment builds on our strategy of partnering with high-quality infrastructure platforms. Silicon Ranch is a leading IPP with profound local expertise, an embedded presence in the communities it serves, and a fully integrated approach to delivering clean power at scale. Our investment supports its continued growth and reflects our confidence in businesses with strong fundamentals and the ability to drive the energy transition forward.”
