Renewable energy producer (EDPR) EDP Renewables North America (EDPR NA) and Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp owner Meta announced a new long‑term power purchase agreement (PPA) for a new 250‑megawatt (MW) solar energy project, Cypress Knee Solar, to be built in Arkansas.

The new agreement marks Meta’s third with EDPR NA, and nearly doubles the total energy procured between the companies to 545 MW. Meta ranked as the largest corporate clean energy offtaker globally in 2025, according to a recent report by BloombergNEF, contracting 10.24 GW in the year. The company has set targets to reach net-zero emissions across its value chain by 2030, and to continue to match 100% of the electricity used in its data centers and offices with renewable energy.

Amanda Yang, Head of Clean and Renewable Energy, Meta, said:

“Through our partnership with EDPR, Cypress Knee Solar will bring new generation to the Arkansas grid, creating local jobs and delivering economic benefits to the community. We’re proud to expand our collaboration with EDPR.”

The new project is located close to the city of Lake Village, Arkansas, is expected to include approximately $400 million of capital investment, and to generate energy equivalent to the average consumption of more than 43,400 homes, with completion anticipated by 2028.

Sandhya Ganapathy, CEO of EDPR NA, said:

“Cypress Knee Solar and our broader portfolio of projects with Meta are helping power a reliable, modern U.S. electric grid—the backbone of American innovation and long-term economic growth. These investments strengthen local communities, create durable economic value, and ensure that progress is built on a resilient, sustainable foundation.
