Business and financial markets information service provider Bloomberg announced today the expansion of its climate and transition analytics solutions suite, Transit Toolkit, with new capabilities designed to portfolio managers identify, assess, and manage transition risks and opportunities across their investment and risk management processes.

According to Bloomberg, the new capabilities come as global energy transition investment reached a record $2.3 trillion in 2025 and is expected to increase further, amidst rising energy demand and increased energy security concerns, with the new enhancements designed to address growing demand from portfolio managers for tools that go beyond measuring climate exposure and support investment decision-making.

The expansion follows the launch of a series of tools in October 2025, aimed at enabling investors to assess company and portfolio exposure to low carbon transition risks and opportunities.

Key new capabilities include the integration of climate risk scenarios and stress testing into Bloomberg’s portfolio management solution, enabling investors to assess potential market value impacts with look-through analysis across funds, indices and ETFs. Bloomberg has also introduced Temporal Carbon Attribution, enabling users to track changes in portfolio emissions over time and to identify the factors driving shifts in carbon footprints.

In addition, the company launched Climate Alignment Scores, available through the Bloomberg Terminal and Data License, offering forward-looking assessments of companies by comparing them against sector- and region-specific transition pathways. Built on Bloomberg’s carbon emissions forecasts, the scores are designed to support investors construct transition funds and portfolios.

According to Bloomberg, the expanded Transition Toolkit supports a range of use cases, including assessing the credibility of corporate transition plans, evaluating potential financial impacts under different transition scenarios, managing transition-related risks while maintaining portfolio diversification, aligning portfolios with decarbonization objectives, and meeting evolving climate disclosure and stress-testing requirements.

Lauren Smart, Global Head of Sustainable Finance at Bloomberg said:

“Bloomberg’s Transition Toolkit goes beyond carbon analytics to provide intelligence on how businesses are impacted by the varying energy technology and policy shifts across regions and sectors using BNEF data. By providing these insights into financial workflows on Bloomberg, we help investors better understand where transition risks and opportunities sit across their portfolios and turn those insights into action.”

The Transition Toolkit is available through the Bloomberg Terminal, as well as via Data License, PORT and MARS Climate.
