French engineering software company Dassault Systèmes announced that it has set a new target to achieve net zero greenhouse gas emissions across its value chain by 2050, which has been validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).
The new target follows the company’s achievement of its initial SBTi targets ahead of schedule. According to Dassault, it reduced its operational (Scope 1 and 2) emissions by 35% and business travel and commuting (Scope 3) emissions by 20% in 2025, surpassing its 2027 targets. The company also said that suppliers representing more than 50% of emissions from purchased goods and services and capital goods currently have science-based emissions reduction targets.
The company said it achieved its 2027 near-term targets through initiatives including securing ISO 50001 energy management system certification for sites covering 91.4% of its workforce, increasing the share of renewable electricity to 93.9% in 2025, and strengthening sustainable procurement practices.
As part of its new near-term commitments, Dassault said that it aims to reduce absolute Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 65% by 2035 from a 2024 baseline. The company also committed to reduce Scope 3 emissions by 66.33% per euro value added over the same period, while cutting emissions from the use of sold products beyond the minimum boundary by 66.33% per euro value added within the same timeframe.
