Vehicle safety systems company Autoliv announced today a series of climate-focused commitments, aiming to become carbon neutral by 2030, and to achieve net-zero emissions across its supply chain by 2040.
As the automotive industry accelerates is push towards climate sustainability, manufacturers are increasingly turning to suppliers to help eliminate emissions throughout the value chain. Autoliv aims to continue supporting this transition through its own climate initiatives, and by researching and developing products for electric vehicles.
The company’s new targets are aligned with the Paris Agreement on Climate and limiting global warming to 1.5°C. Autoliv is also committing to set science-based targets with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). Achieving approval of targets by SBTi is a significant milestone for companies’ sustainability efforts and Autoliv has initiated the process to get their targets validated.
The scope of Autoliv’s target will cover all renewable electricity both in its own and supplier operations, low carbon logistics, energy and materials efficiency, and low carbon materials.
