Tech giant Microsoft announced today the launch of a new sustainability industry team, to be led by newly hired Corporate Vice President of Sustainability Elisabeth Brinton.
The new team aims to further Microsoft’s initiatives to help customers integrate sustainability in their businesses. In a post announcing the launch of the new team, Omar Abbosh, Corporate Vice President: Industry Solutions at Microsoft, said:

Brinton joins Microsoft from energy giant Shell, where she most recently served as Executive Vice President, Renewables & Energy Solutions, leading the company’s work in power, renewables and lower-carbon technology. In her new role, she will work closely with Microsoft Chief EnvironmentalEnvironmental criteria consider how a company performs as a steward of nature. Officer Lucas Joppa, who leads the company’s team responsible for its strategy to achieve sustainability commitments including its goals to be carbon negative, water positive and zero waste by 2030. According to the company, the teams will work together to enable experience sharing, learning and technology solutions with customers to advance their own climate progress.
Abbosh added:
“Elisabeth has dedicated more than 25 years to helping global customers solve the ‘how’ of their transition to lower carbon energy by building sustainable solutions, from leveraging renewables and green hydrogen for manufacturing, to deploying electric commercial vehicle fleets, or to powering data centres with clean energy from offshore wind.”
