IKEA U.S. announced a new collaboration with residential solar technology and energy services provider SunPower to launch Home Solar with IKEA, a new offering aimed at providing easier access to solar energy generation and storage solutions for US homes.

Javier Quiñones, CEO & Chief Sustainability Officer, IKEA U.S., said:

“At IKEA, we’re passionate about helping our customers live a more sustainable life at home. We’re proud to collaborate with SunPower to bring this service to the U.S. and enable our customers to make individual choices aimed at reducing their overall climate footprint. The launch of Home Solar with IKEA will allow more people to take greater control of their energy needs, and our goal is to offer the clean energy service at additional IKEA locations in the future.”

The announcement marks the latest market expansion for IKEA’s home solar services. IKEA Retail launched Home Solar in 2015, and has rolled out the service to 11 markets worldwide, including the UK and Germany. The company has said that it aims to make home solar available across 30 markets by 2025.

The collaboration also follows the recent announcement by SunPower of the $250 million sale of its B2B distributed power-focused Commercial & Industrial Solutions business to TotalEnergies, to focus on the residential market.

Through the new collaboration, members of the IKEA Family customer loyalty program will be able to purchase SunPower’s home solar solutions to generate and store renewable energy. The service will launch in California later this year.

Peter Faricy, SunPower CEO, said:

“We are thrilled to deliver exceptional solar products to IKEA customers through a unique and simplified buying experience. Together with IKEA, we can help introduce the incredible benefits of solar to more people and deliver on our shared value of making a positive impact on the planet.”
