Moody’s ESGEnvironmental, social, and governance (ESG) criteria are a set of standards for a company’s operations that socially conscious investors use to screen potential investments. More announced today the launch of its Global Compact Screening tool, aimed at enabling investors and market participants to evaluate the alignment of companies with the sustainability-focused principles of the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC).
The UNGC is a consortium of companies and organizations across the globe committed to aligning their strategies and operations with a series of ten principles on human rights, labor, environment, and anti-corruption, and to take strategic action to advance broader societal goals such as the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Moody’s new tool provides assessments for approximately 5,000 companies across 36 datapoints, with scores and controversy screening on the UNGC principles, as well as negative screening for activities in contravention of the UNGC exclusionary principles.
