CRM solutions provider Salesforce announced today the global rollout of Net Zero Cloud 2.0, the latest version of its greenhouse gas emissions data tracking, analysis and reporting solution, aimed at helping organizations plan, implement and accelerate net zero strategies. The company also announced today that it has added Sustainability as a “Core Company Value,” used by the company to guide its actions, joining existing core values including Trust, Customer Success, Innovation and Equality.
Salesforce initially released Sustainability Cloud – now rebranded as Net Zero Cloud – in 2019, aiming to provide businesses with a platform offering a 360-degree view of their environmental impact with the ability to track, analyze and report reliable environmental data in order to reduce their carbon emissions. The company unveiled Net Zero Cloud 2.0 in September 2021, which it is now making available globally, highlighting new features, such as the integration of Slack, enabling better collaboration with suppliers (following the completion by Salesforce of its $28 billion acquisition of business communications and collaboration platform Slack Technologies last year), the use of CRM dashboards from Salesforce company Tableau to provide sustainability insights, and also including a carbon-offset ecosystem, and industry specific climate action plans.
Net Zero Cloud 2.0 enables organizations to forecast carbon footprint progress and perform ‘what-if’ analyses to find the fastest path to net zero, set goals in line with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), and track scope 3 emissions generated by suppliers across the entire supply chain, in addition to tracking hazardous and non-hazardous waste management data and treatment methods like landfilled, composted, or combusted.
Salesforce stated that its consulting partners including Accenture, KPMG, Orion Global Solutions, PwC, Slalom, and Traction on Demand are implementing Net Zero Cloud for customers across a broad range of sectors.
According to Salesforce, by adopting Sustainability as one of the company’s core values, every internal organization will align with the company’s Vision, Values, Methods, Obstacles, and Measures (V2MOM) management process, integrating sustainability and driving climate action throughout the company.
The new announcements are the latest in a series of sustainability-focused initiatives by Salesforce. Last year, the company announced that it will introduce climate obligations in its supplier procurement contracts, and earlier this month, Salesforce said that it will begin integrating ESG performance in its executive compensation programs. Salesforce announced that it will actively advocate for clear and consistent science-based climate policies that facilitate a just and equitable global transition to a 1.5°C future as part of its public policy platform, and has called for mandatory climate reporting by companies. Additionally, Salesforce announced last year that it achieved key sustainability milestones, including reaching net zero emissions across its full value chain, and 100% renewable energy for its operations.
