Global IT services company HCLTech announced the launch of the HCLTech Sustainability School, and its first climate literacy learning series. The company said that the school is being rolled out to all 220,000+ employees, and the goal is to upskill every employee on ESG.

The new series was developed by Axa Climate to educate employees on how to contribute to the efforts of governments, NGOs and enterprises to address the causes of climate change. The course will cover topics ranging from threats to biodiversity, the exploitation of natural resources, and the impact on livelihoods across geographical regions, to helping participants understand how to reduce their own carbon footprints, and to look at innovative ways to reduce carbon emissions within HCLTech and with its clients.

HCLTech said that the new climate series is aimed at building “sustainability champions” among the company’s global employees.

As demand from companies for support on sustainability, ESG and climate issues grows, several professional services firms have announced initiatives to upskill their employees. Earlier this year, Deloitte launched a new learning program aimed at enhancing its employees’ skills and capabilities on climate and sustainability issues, PwC revealed that it has provided ESG training to 100,000 employees over the past year as part of its New Equation strategy, and Bain launched a major upskilling initiative to provide post graduate-level ESG training to all of its global consultants.
