UK-based biodiversity measurement and monitoring solution provider NatureMetrics announced that it has raised $25 million in a Series B funding round, with proceeds to be used to enhance its nature data platform, expand its international reach, and scale its solution to meet the increasing data requirements of its corporate and conservation customers.

Founded in 2014, NatureMetrics provides solutions enabling companies to measure and report on nature impact. In 2023, the company launched its Nature Intelligence Platform, aimed at providing businesses with a solution to simplify reporting on species and ecosystem impacts to meet new regulatory disclosure requirements and standards, such as the Taskforce for Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD), the EU’s Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and Science-based Targets for Nature (SBTN). NatureMetrics currently has over 600 clients operating in more than 110 countries across multiple industries, the company said.

The platform is powered by “environmental DNA” (“eDNA”) technology for detecting and monitoring species, which provides data on thousands of species at once, by analyzing DNA traces from easy-to-collect water or soil samples.

Dimple Patel, CEO of NatureMetrics, said:

“Companies can no longer afford to ignore their impact on ecosystems. Addressing nature-related risks isn’t just about compliance—it’s about future-proofing business operations and making meaningful contributions to a sustainable future. This investment will allow us to rapidly accelerate our solution—enabling businesses to understand nature across their supply chains and make informed operational and financial decisions. We are making nature data accessible and actionable, driving a shift towards a more sustainable global economy.”

The funding round was led by Just Climate, alongside EDF Pulse Ventures and the Monaco ReOcean Fund, with participation from existing investors 2150, BNP Paribas, Ananda Impact Ventures and SWEN Blue Ocean.

Siddarth Shrikanth, Director, Natural Climate Solutions at Just Climate, said:

“We believe that companies across industries seeking to protect and restore nature within their operations and supply chains lack the high-quality data they need to act with confidence. NatureMetrics combines the power of environmental DNA technology with a range of other data sources to generate actionable insights, and we are delighted to support their scale-up journey at a critical moment for global biodiversity action.”
